In October my wife and I visited Disney World and Universal Studios. No we did this without grandkids. At Disney we visited all three parks.

Chicago is one of my favorite cities to visit. This trip I tried to visit some classic Chicago sites. We did visit Millennium Park and the Bean. The armor collection at the Art Institute was awesome.

Joan and I traveled to Nashville, TN for Christmas. We did some tourist things like a tour of the city. We also visited the Lodge cast iron outlet store.

In the spring of 2022, my wife Joan and I took a road trip. First we stopped at Petrified Forest National Park. Besides the actual petrified trees, we visited some native sites in the park. Our next sops were more historic sites. Tuzigoot National Monument, Honanki Heritage Site, and Palatki Heritage Site. All in Arizona. We then visited Las Vegas NV. Not the glitz of the strip, but we visited the first settlement in Vegas. We traveled to Death Valley National Park. Visiting Furnace Creek, Badwater Basin and more history, a petroglyph trail.

I (Mark) had a conference in Philadelphia in June 2023. On the way home from London, we spend a few days in town. The highlight of the trip was a visit to Independence Hall. In addition, you know me, we spent time in the Reading Terminal Market, a food court across the street from the convention center.

This was our second trip to the Hawaiian island of Kauai. To me it has a laid back vibe missing in the other islands in the chain. Beside visiting historic sites, we toured a botanical garden. We also visited the small town of Hanapepe

We celebrated Joan’s birthday in October 2023 with a quick weekend trip to New Orleans. Our major goal was to dine at some classic French Quarter restaurants. We also wander around the Quarter for a few hours. We didn’t realize that our trip coincided with the Halloween weekend.

While Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean, it is part of the US. It belongs in this category. We were there during Thanksgiving Week, 2023. Our resort was the Wyndham Rio Mar, about an hour from Sn Juan. We took a tour of Old Town San Juan and drove though El Yunge National Forest. The only rain forest in the National Forests. And yes it rained, a lot.

Caribbean Photos
While not an island, the country of Belize has the Caribbean vibe, especial in their coastal cities. We did spend some time in the highlands exploring three Mayan sites, before heading to Placencia. Beside soaking in the culture, we took a boat trip on the Monkey River.

For my (Mark) 65 birthday I chose one of my favorite places to visit, the Caribbean. We went to three islands, St. Martin, Guadeloupe, and Dominica. St. Martin and the French side of Sint Maarten were mostly about the food and beaches. Guadeloupe offered a lot of history. While Dominica was all about the scenery.

During June, 2023 Joan and I traveled to London,a huge city that we only saw a few sites. The exciting thing is we were there for the Trooping of the Colours, a annual celebration of the monarch’s birthday. This was the first one in honor of King Charles III.
